2011 "ALL ABOARD" Auction Portfolio

A Special Tribute to the Couse-Sharp Historic Site

A Pair of Paintings by Master Artist Bill Acheff. Each features a rendition of an Historic Painting by Couse or Sharp, along with original artifacts used by them.
(Click on images below to enlarge.)

The Treasure Jar
is a classic tromp l'oeil still life by Acheff, but with a significant difference. He used the actual artifacts that appear in the 30" x 36" The Treasure Jar painted by Couse in 1911. Jerry Mirabal from Taos Pueblo is seen retrieving a treasure cache from a large San Indefonso black-on-red jar. His beaded leggings, moccasins and silver concho belt appear twice in Acheff's painting. The artifacts are in the Couse Family Collection, which will become part of The Couse Foundation when it acquires the Couse-Sharp Historic Site.

Moonlight Over Firelight evokes Sharp's long-standing affection for the Crow indian tribe. He has included Crow moccasins of the type Sharp often used in his paintings. He then added his signature touch with an image of a favorite Sharp theme involving a Crow encampment on the Little Big Horn River in Montana. A wonderful combination.
